Education
The Munroe Falls Police Academy wanted a fresh website with lots of color and easy navigation. We obliged with a bright entry portal, complete with non-Flash slide show. Menu tabs walk prospective students through the admission process. Students can download all necessary forms, stay current with latest news, and link to the academy's Facebook page.
Small Business
The Lusty Wrench is an established auto repair business. We put together a colorful new site with Blog and Latest News features requested by the owner.
Content Management Systems
Currently, we develop sites using an open-source content management system (CMS), using php and MySQL. This requires server support for both.
Why CMS?
We have chosen this approach for several reasons:
There is no software expense.
Modular design allows great flexibility. It is possible to change, rearrange, or add modules without redesigning entire pages.
The CMS has many extensions and add-on modules to allow a wide range of custom features, future upgrades, and additions, all at minimal cost.
A resident, Word-like text editor allows in-house text revisions, changes, and additions.
User access can be controlled at several levels, at both the front and back ends.
Optional login pages allow you to restrict access to parts of your site to registered or specially authorized users.
A free backup/restore module allows backups of the database and total site.
CMS sites have a resident global search function that allows users to find what they are looking for quickly.
There are many template designs available with appealing and editable style sheets. Crooked River Writer has purchased license rights to many of these templates: choosing one and tweaking it to suit your tastes eliminates expensive design costs incurred with blank-page site designs.
CMS has outstanding organizational features that make your site intuitive and easy to navigate.
Pages can be optimized and compressed to load quickly, making the site available to viewers who haven't yet subscribed to high speed connections like cable and DSL.
Sites can be optimized to improve search engine results.
